World Wrestling Entertainment just announced that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.

I don't think this is fake (it would be a pretty brutal prank on behalf of WWE if it was). No newswire services have any mention of it yet, but they will probably catch up soon.

Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family.

Oh no, I remember watching him as a kid in WCW

This is sad.

I'm googling it right now, but as you, I don't think this is fake either.

No, not fake. I was just listening to the radio and the DJ called another wrestler who confirmed it. This is totally f**ked up. OMG

If you are a wrestling fan, his wife Nancy was "Woman" in WCW and ECW and "The Fallen Angel" in the old Championship Wrestling from Florida.

Some reports are already out there. Everybody is still awaiting further details, but it's a pretty clear report - former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, all we can do is to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans.

Two of his sons are apparently still alive. Only one was in Atlanta - so they say.

Yes, only one son was with them - Daniel (7), the other two were and still are in Canada at the time of their passing. There are still speculations running around surrounding their deaths, but still no official reports on what the heck is happening.

Unofficial reports say there was no shooting. Apparently they were found dead by the police so everybody is waiting for police reports before any official statements are made. It's sad

A decision was made just a few minutes ago to cancel the live show tonight in Corpus Christi, Tex. Fans will be sent home. Wrestlers are being allowed to leave and mourn.

Fox News reports:

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., and the deparment was investigating the deaths as a homicide. Pope said results of autopsies were expected Tuesday.

It looks like you might be right afterall. All people who take roids are somewhat weird. And now it looks like instead of a mortyr we have a murderer here. That'll be pretty fucked up if it proves to be true

TMZ has learned more about the deaths of WWE wrestling superstar Chris Benoit, his wife and son -- and the information is extremely disturbing.

Several Atlanta-based law enforcement sources have told TMZ Benoit may have strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his son in his bed a day later. Investigators refuse to officially comment, pending final confirmation by the coroner on the cause and time of the deaths.

One source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time.

According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.

A police investigation is ongoing.

Holy shit!

I'm the farthest thing from a WWE fan, but I heard he done it. But meh, that's just from my uncle. *edit* but meh, pornask beat me to posting o.O

Not that I should really mention it, but Chris was my boyfriends cousin. If I hear anything sharable, I'll let you know. At this point, I'm doubting I'll really hear anything. I don't think he knows much more than us.

its always the steroids. Drives them crazy in the end.

According to Sports Illustrated - authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Authorities declined to say whether drugs or steroids were found inside the house. "We're not releasing any information as far as what was located inside the house," - autopsies are scheduled for later today, but test results may not be back for weeks or even months.

Steriods make you go coo coo... That's what juice does to ya. If you have ever seen the temper of a routine roid user (I have), you will know what I'm talking about. Even though we really don't know whether roids actually played any role in the killings. Guy obviously had some issues. But now we have millions of kids who idolized him from seeing him on TV and then this...

It's sad - I felt sorry for the mf yesterday, I thought someone broke into their house and murdered them all... Nope, the steroids ain't good for you.

It's true. They dont call it "roid rage" for no reason...

Last night I heard so many of his supporters and members of the press talking about how much they look up to him and how great he was and they were going to have a show on their usual monday evening slot in his honor... I bet now that they found he did this shit, they are all paddling backwards.

It's official, apparently. He strangled his wife after tying her hands and feet together, then several hours later smothered his 7-year-old child, then a day later hung himself from the pulley of some of his weight training equipment.
They found prescription anabolic steroids at his house, but after all his injuries that doesn't surprise me that he'd legitimately have them.

Supposedly he sent some text messages over the weekend. Hopefully they'll reveal what the heck went on. Given that this took all weekend, I sincerely doubt roid rage.
This all sucks

Maybe he got really depressed or something... or maybe something bad was going to happen and he knew about it... who knows what was going through his mind when he did this. I don't think anyone will every really understand why he, or anyone else, does things like this.

We don't know what really happened and we never will. Each of 3 eye witnesses are dead. The rest is just evidence put together and third person reports.

It's possible that it was a single roid rage and he snapped over his wife. His son either saw that, or was enquiring about where mom was. If Chris managed to collect himself in the meantime, he may start acting weird, because he would realize that everything around him just collapsed - he's a murderer, his wife is dead, blah blah. one way or another, his son, even though only 7, would have either been an eye witness of what he id to his mother, or would have learned about it at a later time.

It apparently took him several hours to figure out what to do next and he saw no other way but to get rid of the only witness he had - his son. He must have been thinking about what to do next, otherwise he would finish them both at the same time. After his son was dead, he kept thinking about the next step - all eye witnesses are dead, but he's still the only suspect and there's also a great deal of guilt going on and what not.

Anyway - I guess my point is that it may have been the roid rage that started it and got things to the point of no return... But there's smarter guys like me out there who will come up with their own version of what has happened.

Drug companies sure have everyone by the balls, don't they. They can buy congressmen, they can by a president, now it looks like they have bought WWE officials. How otherwise would you explain blatant advocating, or as they call it - concerns over media speculations. Why such a radical stance over it? Why protect the use of steroids with such a passion and sound like everything is at stake here? Is it that maybe their main sponsor has got them by the balls and is dictating them to?

Nah, it's cuz the only way they can get the boys to keep busting their humps so hard and so long is to use steroids to ease the joint and muscle pain, and help recover from injuries quicker. They have their business because of drugs that keep the boys going. Otherwise folks like the 'Taker would have had to quit years ago.

On Saturday, June 23, Chris Benoit was slated to appear at a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas. That afternoon, Benoit contacted WWE to inform them that his wife and child were ill, and that he would not be able to attend the show.

WWE executives rebooked Benoits flight for the following morning, allowing Benoit to miss the Beaumont event making alternate arrangements for him to attend the pay-per-view event in Houston on Sunday.

WWE employees attempted to confirm with Benoit his travel plans but were unable to contact him.

Early Sunday morning, between 3:51 and 3:58 a.m., Benoit sent five text messages to co-workers:

Text Message 1 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53 a.m.) - Chris Benoits cell phone
My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215

Text Message 2 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53 a.m.) - Chris Benoits cell phone
The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open

Text Message 3 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:54 a.m.) - Nancy Benoits cell phone
My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215

Text Message 4 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:55 a.m.) - Nancy Benoits cell phone
My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215"

Text Message 5 to one co-worker (sent 6/24 at 3:58 a.m.) - Nancy Benoits cell phone
My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215

Throughout the day on Sunday, WWE made numerous attempts to contact Benoit both at home and at local hospitals in the Atlanta area. As of 11 p.m., WWE officials were unable to establish contact with Chris Benoit.

At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, WWE officials were notified of the text messages sent to the co-workers the previous day. By 12:45 p.m., WWE had contacted Fayette County Sheriffs office requesting they check on the Benoit family.

Fayette County Sheriff's office made contact with WWE at approximately 4 p.m. advising that they had entered the house of Chris Benoit and found three deceased bodies - an adult male, adult female and a male child. WWE was told that Benoits home was now considered a major crime scene.

The decision to cancel the live event scheduled in Corpus Christi that night was made between 4 and 5 p.m. In keeping with company policy, and with limited knowledge regarding facts of the case, WWE choose to air a memorial dedicated to the career of Chris Benoit. As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com.

I'm telling you. Someone at this very moment is already plotting to making a movie about the life and fall of a big wrestling star. It will bear a heartbreaking story on how wrestlers are not given enough off season break, how they have to go from show to show and take all painkillers and steroids available in large amounts until it drives them insane and they pop. I'm telling you, somebody is gonna make a fortune on this... I wish i had the capital to make it me who's gonna harvest on it. Damn

Yeah, I was sad to hear that, he was a pretty good guy.

What really gets me is all the Hart alumni who've died in the last... 10 years or so. Pretty much all of them. Poor Bret
