"I don't have the strength to stay away from you anymore..." - I'm assuming most of you have already seen or at least heard of Twilight, which is without doubt the most anticipated and most talked about movie at present time. I went to see Twilight yesterday and expectedly - I was impressed. The end was a little bit anticlimactic, as if the makers knew up front that the movie will be popular and will make enough money for a sequence. This is my review of Twilight:

Twilight Movie Review by Lila

I'm pretty much sure every single girl who goes to see Twilight will have loved it. One could say it's a chick flick as it has a gorgeous (obviously) boy in it and it is a love story. The fact that we're talking about vampires, about a love between a human (lamb) and a vampire (wolf) adds such level of extraordinary to the movie, that you as a viewer realize it will never happen to you, but you will wish with every hair on your body you could find yourself in a position of Bella (aka Isabella Swan played by Kristen Stewart).

Kristen doesn't seem like the greatest actress ever. Maybe I'm just jealous of Robert Pattison, but Kristen Stewart seems a bit bland playing Bella.

Robert Pattison who plays Edward Cullen is obviously what makes every girl drool and love Twilight. Pale skin and dark lips he wears throughout the movie make your special place feel happy each time he pops on a screen. Being extremely mysterious, but eventually clearly in love makes it easy to fall in love with him.

As I had mentioned above, the only peeve I had was with the ending that was rather anti climactic. I’m not gonna release too many spoilers, rather will only keep it at a simple “review” level so you can go out and enjoy the movie, but somehow even the final fight between the vampires with Bella hurt and bitten was not that great. And then the end happened somewhat unfinished.

Twilight is basically a cute, vampire style Romeo and Juliet story.

Overall rating - I'd give Twilight 9/10. It's a cheat when movie makers intentionally film the flick with an open end to pave the way to a sequel. A great movie to see never the less. If you're in a relationship, you definitely should take your partner to go see it together.

Really?

Like... you're serious?

Obviously you haven't read the books. I read all 4 massive books in less than a month so that I could go to see this movie with the excitement everyone else had. To be honest? It was ok... but some of the acting was SO very cheesy. They hardly show any personality from any of the Cullens other than Edward, and what they do show between Edward and Bella makes Bella look like a self centered brat who is interested in him for rather shallow reasons.

And the Vampire skin? Oi...

This coming from a 19 year old girl who's embracing the obsessive fandom XD

I think from a Twilight reader as picky as me, the movie needed a good hour more added onto the movie. Cut out the ADDED ending (for anyone who as seen the movie and not read the books, the last 30 seconds are added) and put in the seconds they NEEDED. Those 30 seconds could have been so much more in the movie... although I still stand by the 1 more hour lol

Saw Twilight yesterday too. Special effects were kind of cheesy and movie was at times repetitive - some parts just flew, some dragged as if they didn't belong. Overall a great effort and an enjoyable movie. Had minor flaws, but did not regret seeing it.

I thought it was a TV show. I haven't heard much about it, just about the guy and the girl in it. I know I'm much too old to be part of the target market, but are either of them really that attractive? She was cute in Panic Room and I thought she was going to grow up prettier. He's got the biggest eyebrow I've seen in a long while.

Better or worse than Embrace of the Vampire?

She's got a really pretty face (especially in those pics, Angie). I just can't stand her posture. She's got absolutely zero muscle tone, and slouches badly. I saw her on Letterman not too long ago, and she acted like she was 13 years old. Turned me off...now, not as easy to see the pretty. I'm being overly critical, but it sounds like she's the new starlet, so I'm allowed to pick her apart. She'll have enough fans.

Thanks for the review, Lila.

I had a choice between seeing Twilight and Zack and Miri Make A Porno... Im sorry but that was a no brainer... Kevin Smith movie vs. A johnny come lately popular vampire flick that everyone is going to forget in 2 months.

Zack and Miri Make A porno was funny and cute and ODDLY ROMANTIC all at the same time. And seeing Jason Mewes buck naked... wins my vote.

Kevin Smith? That guy is a joke.

Anyway, Catherine Hardwicke who directed first Twilight has been let go and will not be directing sequels. I'm not sure if that's a good news or bad news. The movie got good reviews and is without doubt financially successful. It had really bad special effects, but undeniable success would make you think they're gonna keep the director, right?

Obviously not. Summit Entertainment spokes bitches said that Catherine Hardwicke was irrational and difficult on sets of Twilight. The official statements has it that Summit Entertainment and Catherine Hardwicke parted ways because their visions were different.

New Moon will likely look a whole lot different from Twilight. Depending on whom they hire as director. It could end up being bloody, or violent. Hope they don't hire someone like Kevin Smith cause that would end up in being utterly lame.

No, she's in that other vampire movie that I haven't seen any of. Even though Twilight is not really a vampire movie, it's a romantic chick flick with vampires being an accompaniment dish.

I'm so happy to read this. I couldn't agree more. A lot of my friends love the guy's movies and I just can't stand them. In my opinion, he's a talentless hack that exploits the interesting people around him. There's nothing wrong with that, but he shouldn't get the credit. He's an untalented, unfunny Mel Brooks...and Mel Brooks isn't funny. But, I guess for people who never had a creative bone in their body, they can relate to him.

Haven't seen the movie yet.
Read the book though, It was okay. Stephanie Mayer is no JK Rowling or Anne Rice for that matter.
I really didn't like Bella. She is supper weak and when I was reading the book all I could think of is how she makes me want to knock some sense into the girl.

New Moon will be directed by Chris Weitz - it has been confirmed. I don't think different director will have any impact on popularity of Twilight series as little girls will go to see it no matter what.

He doesn't have big shoes to fill. I don't think it's that difficult to outdo Catherine Hardwicke. Twilight was good, but wasn't that well filmed. Unless he makes it an entirely movie of his own to purposefully separate himself from Catherine Hardwicke, New Moon will be just fine with Chris Weitz

I've seen it. Was ok, seen better though.

Quite honestly, I don't understand the hype of it. In my opinion, the books really aren't THAT good. I've read all but Breaking Dawn. They were decent, I'll give 'em that. But rather...cliche..in my opinion. Quite predictable. I honestly don't think she deserves all the hype and popularity she's gotten. Buuut...that's just me. Lol

Twilight is a series of books, currently on their 4th.

1. Twilight
2. New Moon
3. Eclipse
4. Breaking Dawn

Book 5 is to be released Nov 09, titled Midnight Sun. But it's just a re-write of Twilight from Edwards perspective.

I don't know. Catherine Hardwicke made Twilight a failure - special effects are ridiculously awful, the only fight in the movie is a joke and acting of two main characters is like from a high school year end get together. The movie is only successful because of Robert Pattison cause his hair makes underage pussies wet.

Taking that into account, one would think that engaging a new director would be an unmistakable plus. No, it's not. Chris Weitz is a director of Golden Compass. Golden Compass was busted even more than Twilight. As a director, Chris Weitz failed entirely with it. He spent massive budget on special effects but there was barely any character development. You don't feel connection with characters, you don't know who they are and what they want so you don't even care about what's happening.

Twilight has moved from one bad director to another. I have no doubt New Moon will still be a major success. For as long as hair of Robert Pattison makes pussies of underage girls wet, the movie will make millions easily.

i am definitely in love with edward cullen...

and paulie, i think a lot of ppl can agree with you on that.
seems like the ppl that never read the book would fall in love with the movie,
the ppl that are fans of the twilight series, are either outraged, or think the movie is okay.
even though i seen the movie, i am definitely reading the book right now.

as far as kristen stewart's acting, she was alright.
i've seen her in other movies like Speak, and she was the same.
she's always playing the 'damsel in distress' character.

The books are great... but the writing skill is poor. I've said many times Stephanie Meyers writing reminds me of a teens writing in high school.

To be honest... I LOVED the casting of every character other than Carlisle Cullen. His character was supposed to be young and good looking due to the Vampire traits, but fatherly as well. They just picked someone that the majority would think was hot.

As for their acting skills? I'd fire half their butts, remake Twilight, and continue on with the series. They were good for the most part, but they screwed up royally in crucial parts of the movie, example being Edwards reaction to Bella's scent in the Bio lab. His reaction in the movie is almost as if to throw up, but he's a Vampire who doesn't eat... doesn't have the normal human functions. There's no reason for him to throw up, feel as if to throw up, or respond in such way.

In Midnight Sun Stephanie Meyer writes from Edwards perspective. His response is not grotesque... it's an urge to hunt and to kill.

And they took out Bella hitting on Jacob to learn the Quileute tribe stories! Seriously one of the funniest parts in the first book, not to mention symbolic for the rest of the books for her friendship with Jacob Black.

Maybe I should avoid this thread? My ranting on this is worse than when they put out the first Harry Potter movie without all of the tests to get to the Philosophers Stone.

My Time Seeing Twilight with the Girlfriend.
by al on December 01, 2008

2 days prior: okay she really wants to go see this movie for some reason. Mentioned something about "vampires?" Oh well, should be a good way to score some points, since she wasn't too happy when I took her to see Transporter 3.

Going into the theater: Okay somethings up, why am i the only guy here?

2 minutes in: HOLY SHIT the first scene in the movie has a guy killing a deer with his bare hands. This will be awesome.

20 minutes in: Okay nothing's happened for awhile. Something about some new girl living in a small town. So its basically a Journey song. With Vampires.

25 mintues: Didn't know Native Americans had vampire legends. Because ancient native american myths add an air of legitamicy to any plot.

27 mintues: Weird thought, is it just me or does the soundtrack sound like a ripoff of a Rush song?

28 minutes: Girlfriend has no clue who Rush is.

30 minutes in: Apprently main girl came to conclusion main guy is a vampire based on "pale skin", "doesn't go out in the sun", and "antisocial tendencies." I would have gone with him having a World of Warcraft account, but hey...

32 minutes in: Seriously, he sparkles in the sunlight? that's got to be the stupidest thing ever.

33 minutes in: Girlfriend tells me to stop laughing, its apparently supposed to be romantic.

35 minutes: Really? An angtsy afternoon in the woods staring at each other and THAT means their hopelessly in love?

37 minutes: okay, apparently he's a "vegitarian vampire" because he only drinks animal blood. Why hasn't PETA tried to ban this movie? Dear god I wish they would.

40 mintues: Girlfriend tells me to shut up. SHE didn't tell everyone the plot holes in Transporter 3.

45 minutes: Okay they just defined main girls age as 17 and vampire guy as 117. Why does no one pick up on that? Where's Chris Hanson when you need him?

50 mintues: Where the fuck is Wesley Snipes and a katana when you need him?

60 mintues: At this stage I'll take Hugh Jackman and that crossbow machine gun thing he had. Man that movie was awesome, why didn't they make a Van Helsing sequel.....

62 minutes: Crap, i just snapped out of my daydream. Sadly this movie is NOT Van Helsing 2.

65 minutes: Girlfriend tells me she didn't tell me how the movie would be because she didn't want me pre-gaming like I did for Sex and the City.

70 minutes: okay, how the hell do I get sucked into these things?

80 minutes: cell phone Tetris you are my new God.

93 minutes: high score motherfucker! hey, ssssshhhhhs yourself.

100 minutes: Good, girlfriends in a romantic mood.

101 minutes: Bad, girlfriend is NOT up for a movie BJ.

End of Movie: Yeah baby that was really good. No I totally get how you feel, it made me romantic too. Whose Edward Cullen?
