This is insane. A man was stabbed to death and decapitated on the Greyhound bus that travelled from Edmonton to Winnipeg.
The reports have not been confirmed as RCMP hasn't released any details, other than that there was a major accident that took place on the Greyhound bus en route to Winnipeg from Edmonton on Wednesday, July 30 2008.
According to Garnet Caton, another passenger who was on the bus and witnessed the massacre, the attacker started stabbing a young guy who was sleeping at the end of the bus with a Rambo knife without any prior verbal confrontation.
Garnet Caton said the attacker seemed very calm, with no sign of rage as he showed them decapitated head of a young man he just killed.
That's pretty insane. Watch the video

Craziness, travelling on Greyhound buses really gets to you, but I wouldn't have expected the attack like that. WTF?

Don't be pissed at me. I got tired of watching The Mask Of Zorro they've played on the bus....
All right. Not funny. I've heard the attacker was the aboriginal guy dressed up like wigger. Did anyone else hear the same too?

Beheading with a knife is a tough work. It's not that easy to cut through the spine. I know that and I haven't even tried to decapitate anyone (yet). But you can tell from
Beheading of Eugene Armstrong video
that it's a long lasting, painful process that even takes a lot of effort on behalf of the killer.
This is terrible. I haven't taken a ride on a greyhound bus for year. Previously I've never had any issues, but I'll think twice before I board one again. And I for sure won't sit in the back with earphones on. Damn

Not good at all. The killer boarded in Edmonton, right? It almost seems as though he wanted to kill someone just to get to jail. Edmonton's becoming very violent. Oil money attracts drug money and everyone's going wacko.

How is it possible that on a bus with almost 40 people in, nobody stepped in to stop the guy from decapitating sleeping fellow? He had a knife, but he was all by himself. What were all other 37 people thinking? They could have all jump him and he'd have no chance. That could have resulted with few more people with non life threatening cuts, but other man's life could have been saved. Even 5 people would be able to pacify the attacker. Why did everyone run away and leave the guy get decapitated?

He boarded in Manitoba. He wasn't from Edmonton, as far as we can tell anyways.

It doesn't really matter where he was from.
The fact remains that he killed someone in cold blood out of no where.
He was probably on drugs or something.
Probably hallucinated that the vic was some alien with 12 tentacles and sharp teeth and whatnot and he had to kill him to save mankind or some shit.
From what my Gramma told me, on the news they said he got on the bus, and didn't make eye contact and didn't speak with anyone. He started out sitting in the front seat, and then he moved to the back. The vic was just sitting there listening to whatever was on the headphones, and out of nowhere the guy jumped up and stabbed him and... well you all know the rest...
The guy was probably dead by the time the actual beheading started... so trying to stop the perp probably would have been useless.
Another day another sketch case if you ask me.

I've heard on the news that the killer spoke to a girl during smoke break just before he killed that guy. I think the chick who spoke with him will have a story to tell around the camp fire no one will be able to beat.

The witness in the video posted above states that he spoke to a girl during the break.

Wannabe has a good point, though. Everybody bolted for the door leaving stabbed guy on his own to die a horrible death. If 30 people jumped the slasher, he'd have no chance, even if there were small girls in those 30. He was outnumbered, but the numbers decided to flee instead of to try to save life.

That really depends on what was going on in the dudes head. None of us know. Its all speculation.
If he was really determined to kill this guy even if 30 ppl jumped him, he was going to do what he wanted. Odds are the vic was well on his way to dead before anyone noticed... so why risk 30 other lives?

It's true, sometimes you're late helping another, but I still find it alarming that there were so many people on the bus and no one would attempt to even try to help the guy. It reminds me of this
Moral Test
forum. The guy was stabbing the woman for the longest time. It always depends on who does stabbing as clearly in this video the guy sucked at it, so I'm not saying a well rounded knife weilder could not end one life in a manner of seconds, but still... won't these people have regrets that they haven't even attempted to help the guy? The killer could have picked any of them, it seems. It doesn't look like the vic who got killed brought it upon himself. It seems pretty random. It could have been anyone else. How would they feel if the guy started killing them instead and everyone in the bus would shoot for the door instead of trying to help?

The kid was 18 year old. That's too young to die by beheading

From what I'm reading, it is possible the guy was an ex marine or some other ex soldier or something like that. People say he was calm during attack, he may have killed the kid quickly, which would mean he knew how and where to stab and he ended up decapitating a guy, which is most feared end for a soldier. I'm just guessing, I don't know anything about it, but reading accounts from witnesses, I wouldn't be surprised if the murdered had military past.

Have you ever been on a plane where something just doesn't feel right?
I have.
The entire trip you're tense and waiting for something to happen. When it doesn't, the next trip you get a little complacent. At least that's what I felt the next time it happened, but I did "snap out of it" when I realized I was becoming complacent.
Sadly we can't assume every trip with the public these days will turn out normal. It seems every week there's a story in the news about drunks causing trouble or people dying on an airplane, schools and churches being shot up, and now a guy on a bus getting killed.
The actor James Woods describes a flight he was on where he's absolutely sure terrorists were practicing a dry run.
I guess paranoid is normal these days. The terrorists, foreign and domestic, have won.

Got to love some of the mainstream media. Now they're speculating that the killer may have been member of cannibal tribe...

Some of the witnesses say that the victim wasn't sleeping when he was stabbed. Allegedly he spent entire journey sending and receiving sms messages and at the same time he was wearing headphones connected to his cell phone. Last message to which he didn't reply had been received 10 minutes prior to his death.
I'm being premature and speculative, but maybe this is the motive. Maybe the guy was being too irritating with his phone, maybe it was beeping as he was hitting the keys, maybe he listened to the music too loud and all that.
If you look at it, anything that some people do that irritates others is eventually going to push those others to an extreme. I'm sure many of you have seen a video or two of a guy in a cubicle flip out and start smashing everything around. You may never know the truth, but if anyone has worked in a cubicle before, you will know how easy it is to lose it after you'd been exposed to non stop, on going, long term irritation from someone who's next to you. Anyone who's been in such situation can understand that. Maybe this is what happened on this Greyhound bus. I'm not justifying the grisly attack and definitely not the decapitation, but maybe one can see a motive if you look closer at it. Some people have no respect for their surroundings and act like there’s nobody else around. Greyhound ride from Edmonton to Winnipeg is long and exhaustive. Add to it someone sitting next to you who constantly hit the keys on his cell phone and wouldn’t give it a fucking break and what do you get – you got one less annoying mother fucker in the world after justice has been served to him.
The preceeding was naught but a speculation.

That kind of behaviour can be annoying, but enough to warrant being attacked like that? No. Maybe at the most take the guy's phone off him and throw it out of the window (and even that's in extreme circumstances). But one other things keeps cropping up in my mind: why have a knife like that easilly accessible if you're just going on a coach trip? I mean..... just why? To me that says he had intent to use the thing before he'd even boarded (must've been in his pocket, or hand luggage so he could get to it easilly enough).

the guy was calm, cold and intent on his purpose. my guess is he just decided he wanted to know what the kid's insides looked like. if it had been many other motives there would have been a strong outpouring of emotion don't you think? for someone to just randomly pull a knife and decapitate someone, especially cutting his victim up afterward, takes seriously strong sociopathic tendencies.
not psychopathic, that would be emotionally triggered brutality and tend to have a slightly off feeling about them, sociopaths are more like hannibal lecter, they can be hard to pick out of the crowd. that level of instability is extremely rare though. you're more likely to be struck by lightning, maybe even attacked by a shark
honestly, i'd still ride the greyhound if i felt the need, and i'm pretty sure i'd have no problems, the reason you hear about these things is because they don't happen very often. i'd be more worried if i didn't hear about them at all because they happened a lot, like bar fights on whyte ave for example.

Those jackasses from PETA tried to launch an ad campaign comparing decapitation of Tim McLean to the treatment the animals grown for food receive from the meat industry.
While I don't necessarily disagree with their message, PETA has a long way to go before they understand that some of their campaigns simply show no tact and are in bad taste.

After listening to the eyewitness interview....I'm even more convinced that this attacker should be publically killed. He said that the young victim made a sound like a cross between howling and a baby crying. He also said he wanted to help; but all the other "big, strong guys" ran....great, the killer had a huge knife and everyone couldn't have stormed the bastard?
Well, I guess no one knows what they would do, unless placed in their shoes...
it's sickening.

In case anyone's interested, I came across this gruesome picture of McLean after the ordeal.
*WARNING, same rules apply to those with a weak stomach etc. etc.
I find this picture FAR WORSE than Catsouras' (aka Porsche Girl's) picture.
Poor kid; humanity is still heavily flawed.
