These pics show a man who was fatally attacked by a shark surfing in Cape Town, I am assuming this is in Africa. This guy had just graduated high school and was hanging with friends' out surfing. He lost all his blood before he could make it to shore.. That is why the pics have little or no blood left on the wounds. Enjoy the Beach this Summer!

Sharks only attack people when they confuse them with seals. That's why you never see anyone eaten by sharks, only bitten. Sharks will attack when they see something of an interesting size moving in water, but they don't like the taste of human flesh (we taste like shit, literally) so they only bite and let it be. However, taking into account immense power of shark jaws and number of razor sharp teeth, a shark bite can be pretty nasty.

In the photos above, the guy got only one bite from a shark, but the cut it left on his body was so huge, there is no surprise he lost all his blood before anyone could help him. That's a giant wound. No one could help this guy. Very sad, but if you go swimming with sharks, you best expect a fatal accident to happen.

If you compare the statistics of shark bites to most other injuries
its percentages are much lower.

Its the whole fear and idea that makes it such a big thing when ever it happens

Yes they say it was a large Great White.

I actually went to school with the paramedic in the picture.

His name is David Bher and he is very good,
but he was no help here, they say he would of bled out in around 2 minutes.

link to kiteboarding forum with a witnesses acount of the attack

another write-up about it

So you're saying that as long as you are wearing something boring (go with the crocs instead of those pumps honey) and not dressed in a wet suit you should be fine

You may have noticed that alot of the surfing wetsuites now are brightly colored, Orange or Yellow to name some colors used.

They maintain it reduces your risk of being bitten by mistake.

The sand makes him look frozen, and I almost thought it was fake until southerns commented.

That would be a shitty way to go.

same reason why people are afraid of anything... if there is potential harm, then for a lot of people that is reason enough to be afraid...

Again, i'm afraid of clowns... how can they hurt anyone?
They are still scary thanks to the movie IT

Southerns your new avatar is.... kind of scary.

And Tink hunny, not so sure that Pennywise the Clown was a pervert, since he was actually just looking for food and kids were the easiest to lure down into the sewers. Still incredibly creepy though.

Sharks feel with their teeth, they bite down gently to feel what it is they may be about to eat.

Unfortunately for humans this "gentle feel" is enough to do the damage seen in the images. Ultra strong jaw and razor-sharp teeth.

That makes sense, cause sharks only use fins to navigate through the ocean, but they handle their food entirely with their teeth. So if they come to find out what it s that's wiggling in the water, they bite into it. Sometimes they swallow the whole thing, which is why you see so many weird objects fall out of their stomachs when they are open on a fishing ship.

There was a similar attack at the beach by my house two months ago a guy was just out swimming in the water with like 5 others and a great white just came up and bit him. The guy died before he made it to shore. I think it was the first attack in 10 years where someone died in my area its not to common.

Yes its normally the media, Newspapers and TV that turn it into such a big think.

Yes is a big think for their family and friends,
buts its not exactly an epidemic, happening 5 times a day on all our beaches.
