I don't watch American Idol, but apparently Mr. Aiken is at it again. He recently blasted Chris Lambert for his rendition of "Ring Of Fire". He called it contrived, awful, and "frightening". Aiken says he watches the show once a year and claims he thought his ears would bleed when he heard Lambert butchering the Johnny Cash song.
He also lambasted the show, saying it was biased toward Lambert over eventual winner Kris Allen. He says the show now focuses on slick production and polished contestants over raw talent.
While some of Aiken's rant is true, and since I don't watch I have no idea how bad these performances were, what does Aiken have to gain from these attacks? It's not like he needs 15 more minutes of fame. His career seems to be steady and healthy as far as concerts and album sales. Why was such a vicious and vitriolic attack necessary on the show that made him famous?
I guess I'm just wondering what his motivations were. |
You mean Adam Lambert? Not Chris...
I think Clay needs to record a CD worth listening to. His own music has gone down hill, and honestly, I'd never recommend more than his first CD to anyone.
Adam is new, brilliant, and if you haven't heard of him, go look up his performances on the final episode of American Idol. He has had his ups and downs through out the season, just as every "idol" does, but he's a MUCH better vocalist and performer than Clay Aiken will ever be.
Hell, Simon Fuller had enough faith in his talent to team him up with Kiss and Queen on the season finale... he can't be to bad.
