Michael Phelps Fact - He's a Joke, a Complete FAIL

Let's face a fact of reality – Michael Phelps is a joke. It's a fact. He's about as good a swimmer as I'm a champion farter. I wander how many people - both behind the scenes and athletes - were paid to make that joker a super star. Obviously it all comes down to money again. Corporate bullshit took over Beijing Olympics big time and is controlling who wins, who loses. Michael Phelps is a loser. If he wasn't made a winner, he wouldn't win shit. They treat him like he's a super fucking human, yet he's just a joke who was put there by the sponsors and sponsors would benefit the most if he's the winner. So they rigged the races so he is.

It's all one big corporate conspiracy. Olympic Games are no longer about who’s a better athlete. Olympics of the 21st century are about who pays more. It's like that everywhere nowadays, not only in sports.

Anyone has any wonders why another joker called Kimbo Slice wins all those MMA fights with his opponents tapping out after Kimbo just took a fart in the opposite direction? Sports are becoming a joke, or to be more accurate - have long become one. Michael Phelps is a living proof. Hope he can enjoy the money and fame it brought to him. Wonder how many dicks he had to blow to get that...

Video Proof that Michael Phelps Lost to Milorad Cavic

Oh, and here's one more reason to laugh at that loser...

I wholeheartedly agree. Not only has Milorad Cavic touched sensors first, he was also clearly there with both hands long before Michael Phelps had both hands on.

Haven't been following the Olympics closely (just not my thang) but I definitely see Michael Phelps losing the race. I'm not surprised it'd be rigged, cause that's the curse of today's sports in general - not just the Olympics. Money controls the results. Money choses who wins. Big boss tell you "your ass goes down in the fourth" and your ass better goes down in the fourth or else. Betting companies have a lot to lose. Or to gain. They probably don't have rich, multi national advertisers in Serbia. Milorad Cavic didn't stand much chance against the corporate power of companies that are looking to benefit from Michael Phelps' popularity. Sad, but what can we do.

Well I could really care less either way because some parts of the Olympics really are rigged and we all know it. When some Chinese girl can fall on a landing in gymnastics and still win the medal over another gymnist that didn't, that's a scam.

But! I have to play devil's advocate here. I saw an interview with one of the officials speaking about the device that they have to touch in order to register that they have reached the wall and plain and simple he said that the other competitor thought he had hit the switch, but hadn't. By the time he realized it and hit it properly, Phelps had already hit his so technically since you don't win until you hit that switch, Phelps won. That's just the info that I heard out of the official's mouth.

So if this really is the case, the other guy was a complete FAIL in the worst way for being better and faster and not hitting the wall right lol. It's like being right by the finish line in running and looking up in victory as you fall before the line because of an untied shoelace....lol.

In this case it wasn't like that. The both touched the switch, but the clock assigned the victory to Michael Phelps as being 0.01s faster. The clock that is made by Omega, a sponsor of Michael Phelps. The pictures and video tend to show that Milorad Cavic touched the board sooner, he did not forget to touch it, the controversy remained who touched it faster, because to a regular human it looked as if they touched it at the same time. But then if you look at some super slow motion footage or underwater captures, it becomes clear that Milorad Cavic touched it first, but the clock that has Michael Phelps for spokesperson somehow magically decided to say that he was 0.01s faster.

I think regardless of what it was that made Michael Phelps win - whether it was human fix, a mistake by Milorad Cavic or whatever else - one thing remains clear: Milorad Cavic is better swimmer than Michael Phelps. We could debate the reason why he got the gold over and over and it will be worthless. I see the fact that the myth of him being a super human and best swimmer ever being busted as enough ownage.

If trust is being placed in the internet video I saw, I am not sure that I can say which person won. I watched the original race and I watched the videos a number of times. I also watched the coaches question the time on the race before the judges. I must trust the judges on this one. (Gymnastics is a different story with regards to judging) It looks to me that his arms were simply moving faster that his opponent was in the coasting phase of his swim. Phelps did not glide, even risking injury to win. But I could be wrong ... oh, wait ... I could also be right.

Oh I am sorry, is this thread about the race or Phelps' appearance? Appearance=Gay?

In one of my favorite songs, "Feed Jake", the following appears:

"If you get an ear pierced, some will call you gay.
But if you drive a pick-up, they'll say 'No, he must be straight.'
What we are and what we ain't, what we can and what we can't,
Does it really matter?"

Guess I will ponder for a while.

Michael Phelps could shake hands with these guys:

Same league, just different sport

Wait! Maybe they could shake more than just hands. Unleash your inner gay, Michael Phelps and bust the speculations about your sexual orientation and whether you have a girlfriend or what

It was ONE HUNDREDTH of a second. There is no way they could have rigged it. First, they could not have anticipated an ending like that. Then what? Just throw up two random times in favor of Michael Phelps? Yeah, right.

If they use sensors to see who wins then how could it have been rigged?
If the other dude didn't touch the sensor like he was supposed to to set if off then thats his own damn problem really...
It does however mean he is a better swimmer that Michael. Je just has bad aim. lol.

Michael Phelps has 8 gold medals (or seven, for the sake of argument, had Milorad won) - Milorad Cavic has none (or one).

Even if Milorad Cavic did beat Michael Phelps in that one race doesn't make him the better swimmer.

That the same type of logic as saying that Kimbo Slice is a better MMA fighter because he was made a winner whether by bribing other fighters who tapped out or by bribing refs who ended a fights prematurely to pronounce him a winner.

Just because one athlete repeatedly wins and collects whole lot of gold medals, all of them in a questionable manner, it doesn't mean nothing. Especially not in 2008 when sport are no longer what they used to be. Corporate sponsors and national interests make results, not the athletes.

Well I'll put it this way, he's done a lot more than the people who criticize him, whether is was controversial or not. Sure as shit I couldn't out swim him, and I'm sure no one else on this site could either. I'll leave it at that.

I'm sure any of us would get our ass handed to us on a plate if we were to fight Kimbo Slice. No one is arguing that. But it's still a relevant thing to say that he's a lousy fighter who is being made into a superstar. Just as Michael Phelps - He's a good swimmer, but he's a mediocre Olympic swimmer. Criticizing someone who is undeserving of praise he's getting if fair and just. Regardless of whether the person criticizing can or can’t compete in the subject of criticism.

WHAT???
14 gold medals and how many world records? Mediocre???
And he's only 23 or so!

Tyson Gay = Mediocre Olympian... Former World Champion and Former World Record holder... failed to qualify for the finals in the 100 meters AND dropped the baton in the 4x100 relay preliminaries.

Haven't any of us heard of "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all?"
Honestly, I think Michael Phelps is amazing,
you can say he sucks or he's fake,
but I'm disagreeing with you, because in my opinion he isn't.
and in alot of other people's opinions he's not.
so.
And can we please, no offense to anyone, act mature about this please? and stop using the term gay please. You make it look as if if people are gay then it's bad

Well said, Haleigh.

I don't know why some people have jumped on the Phelps Hating Bandwagon. The man is an amazing swimmer and even if the judges flubbed the results of one race in his favor (just saying for the sake of argument), he's still the best swimmer in the world.

I think Michael Phelps is in the same rank of losers as Paris Hilton. The reason being - people are appreciative of champions who are able to be humble. Morons who jump around like a monkey with wounded foot are there to mock, regardless of how good they are.

Look at Paris Hilton - successful young woman who's experienced more by the time she was 20 than all of us combined. But because she's never shown any sign of modesty, people automatically jumped on a bashwagon.

Compare it to the real greats - Fedor Emilianenko. He's a great fighter, but he's also very modest. He would win the fight and he's not gonna humiliate his opponent. He'll raise his hand and will appreciate the fact that he's won. Or look at Paul Potts - same thing. People appreciate the fact that he's not walking around like a champion expecting everyone to drop their jaw because he can sing.

I agree with everyone who bashed Michael Phelps and approve of it wholeheartedly. Dude deserves to be bashed. The fact that he's potentially a good swimmer is irrelevant.

one reason why x games will never be offiliated with the olympics...
.. even tho the olympic comity offered for a fiew of the x games to become olympic sports... those are REAL atheletes... one guy broke his collar bone and still went for another run ... AND WON... that is what i call true athelete when there is a clear winner no matter what

same with "pride" but they got banned from too many places and a more advertisement based company bought them out... ugh...

but i gotta ask megan how those sensors in swimming work... i know there is a "finish trick" that swimmers do ... and she was talking about it last year after she won the 100m but i dont remember exactly... so ill get back on that

ugh i clicked too soon... because the guy on the left used a bad final stroke... he coasted to finish slowing him down alot the right guy continued to the end moving a hell of alot faster

think of it this way what happens if you shoot a low velocity bullet into water? submerged it piddles out at 3 ft from 7-900fps to the pull of gravitys speed... wich i dont have my "pocket ref" with me to say exactly but thats real slow

Yeah, I know...but Phelps isn't your everyday bash-able target. He actually deserves the praise he's receiving, unlike many other "heroes" the media props up.

So Michael Phelps' accomplishments = Paris Hiltons' accomplishments?

Wow!

As for handling fame, I think he's handling it gracefully. He's not out there saying everyone else sucks and he's the best. If you were in his position would you turn down close to a billion dollars in endorsements? Didn't think so.

I was right again, too bad nobody believes me the first time. Christophe Berthaud, general manager of Omega Timing, officially admitted on behalf of Omega that Milorad Cavic touched the wall first. As I have said - Milorad Cavic won the race. He's better swimmer than Michael Phelps but gold was given to Phelps because it worked for everyone with money and what he with money says, goes. Michael Phelps is not good enough to beat Milorad Cavic. Enough said!

It would be "Earth shattering" news if Phelps had been much farther behind, but now it's not really shocking because we've been looking at the same photos forever, and it kind of kills the the "wow" factor.

Either way, they never put flippers onto Michael's feet to make him a better swimmer. I say congrats to both swimmers for being as talented as they are.
