Journals - full story/ worst day ever my friend mike my wife/girlfriend Julie/ Jewels we were not married yet and I arrived at the cottage the night before.
for the first time of the season, (the may 24)weekend it was the afternoon of the next day and Jewels was complaining
because I had not hooked up the water yet.
I went into the pump house to hook up the plumbing and as I was tightening the last bolt in the pump
to stop a small leak
the first lightning bolt of the storm hit the power stack on the cottage
the charge went through the power lines into my left hand through my body and out my right arm
into the reserve water tank I was leaning on then out into the lake through the water line
when the lightning bolt struck it threw me six feet across the pump house to slam into the door jam
(all I remember is a bright flash and loud bang)
I then spun around pointed to the sky and said lightning then proceeded to fall towards the ground
my buddy mike who was sitting on the edge of the deck drinking beer and talking to me
jumped up ran over and caught me as I fell
he dragged me over to the deck layed me on my back and ran into the cottage
where he proceeded to run up to Jewels grab her by the sholders
and say "julie don't get upset but james is dead he got hit by lightning and he's dead"
Jewls looked at him and said "what the hell are you talking about mike"
he proceeded to hold her buy the sholders shaking her and repeating
"jewls don't get upset james is dead he got hit by lightning and james is dead "
jewls said "Mike did you check for a pulse ?" and he said "james got hit by lightning he's dead "
Jewls pushed Mike out of the way ran outside to where i was lying and proceeded to check my pulse
she looked at Mike and said "he's got a pulse help me get him into the cottage"
they picked me up carried me into the cottage and layed me down on the couch
I sort of started to come around and asked for help to stand
they helped me to my feet I took two steps pissed myself and started to fall
at which time Jewels tossed Mike the car keys and told him to bring the car around
they loaded me into the front seat of the car. Mike got into the back and with Jewels driving we headed
for the hospital about a half hour drive from the cottage
after about 5 min on the road I sort of came to looked over at Jewels and said
"I love you" then slumpped forward smashing my face on the dash board
jewels reached over pushed me back upright and checked for my pulse not finding one
she pulled over and performed cpr for about 5 min until I started breathing on my own
with my seat in the full reclining position and mike holding his fingers on my neck
to watch my pulse we headed for the hospital again
Jewels had to pull over two more times to performe cpr before we finally got to the hospital
in Perry Sound which is where I finally came fully around to find myself totally naked with a rather
attractive looking nurse leaning over my mid section with my balls in her hand
unfortunately she was only looking for burns (so no Dear Penthouse)
which I found out after she ran her finger along the crack of my ass
then proceeded to move her way down to my feet to check between my toes
and as if this was't already the worst day I had ever had when we got home from the cottage the next day
I discovered a message on my answering machine telling Jewels to get to her parents house
as soon as she could where we found out that while we had been in the hospital her 16 year old
nephew had died in a motorcycle accident when the altenator blew on his fathers kawasaki ninja
as he rode on a twisting tree lined two lane street causing him to lose control hit a tree stump
and break his neck killing him instantlyAbout allredDded
yes the name means what it says all ready dead .
i was actually dead three times pulled the old fade out 3 times on the way to the hospital after a run in with a rogue lightning bolt .lucky for me my wife knows cpr she pulled over 3 times and revived me on the way to the hospital at least that is what i was told all i remember is fixing the water pump at the cottage there was a bright flash then i woke up naked in the hospital with a nurse holding my balls (she was checking for burns .so unfortunately no dear penthouse.) this is just one of the roughly 15 to 20 brushes with death i have had in my life .
my wife says i will live forever and that after everything in the universe is dead and gone there will just be me. floating in the nothingness saying "dam i wish i had brought a book"
i don't have a normal life like most people mine pretty much ended 7 years ago. i am pretty much house bound .
I developed some serious complications when an infection lodged in my spine. i can now hardly walk (some days not at all)
it took doctors almost two years to finally figure out what the problem was. but by then the damage was already done
and is irreversible. actually it is still progressing although a little more slowly
so now i spend my days in a constant state of pain and a drug induced haze
(fentenal and dillaudid)plus a little pot thrown in for good measure
the treatment and drugs caused a series of mini or micro strokes
affecting my heart and brain
leaving my brain resembling something like a piece of swiss cheese which affects my memory short and long term
so if i forget things or repeat myself please give me a break ok
but all in all my life is not a lost cause mostly because i have a beautiful wife who is the nicest most careing giving person i have ever met in my life (i think, i don't remember everyone) lol

It wouldn't surprise me if I did in fact reside on the back of a giant turtle, although I'm pretty positive that this one playfully corkscrews it's way around the galaxy rather than swimming in a sensible and respectable manner ;) Dec 24, 2008 at 6:34 pm
