Edmonton's International BeerFest

April 4 - 5, 2008

This was the second year for Edmonton International Beerfest and just as it happened in 2007, the biggest festival of beer in Alberta SOLD OUT! The interest in Edmonton's BeerFest was so massive, over 2,000 ended up turned away at the door.

Needless to say, 2008 was a year of phenomenal success for the BeerFest. Edmontonians enjoy and appreciate the beer and that was the signal attendance of our International BeerFest sent to the world. The festival was moved to a larger venue - Shaw Conference Center - from previous year and next year promises to be even bigger.

During the event that lasted 2 days and a total of 14 hours floor time, exhibitors used over 14,000 pounds of ice and almost 54,000 drink samples were poured. Over 150 types of beer were available for sampling in 59 booths spread over an area of 23,000 sq feet. Both days were fully sold out by 8.30pm - first day saw 300 people in line one hour prior to the door open. 3 DJs and 5 bands kept 7,000 attendees of the BeerFest entertained. Additional 2,000 got turned away at the door. What can I say - it's just one hell of an event and the turn around had proven it.

Alberta Stars was one of media partners of the Beerfest and it has paid off. Several of our members were granted VIP entry to the event courtesy of Alberta Stars and we're looking forward to seeing you all again at Edmonton International BeerFest 2009. This one is going to monstrous.
